Its Been a Wacky Wednesday!!!

I had to include this photo...
Scamp came to me this morning with her Cat in the Hat hat and wanted me to put it on her.  She doesn't usually want anything on her head, and yet, she walked around for 15 minutes with that hat on.

So we all were dressed in Wacky, Tacky Wear today!!  I tried to get them to put hats back on, or silly socks back on feet, but when you are working with this age group, you take what you can get... and this is the best shot I could get. I know I should have included my photo in there, but we couldn't get one that was acceptable (to me anyway), so it's just the munchkins!!

Also on our reading radar was Dr. Seuss's book, 1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.  We had a lot of fun counting fish, making our own "under the sea fish house" and eating yummy fish snacks.

Blue Jello and Swedish Fish were on the snack menu...
of course no Swedish Fish for the little ones, but they liked the Jello though

After snack we made our fish houses...

I absolutely love that face!!!
Squeezing Gel Bottles can be hard work...
but those fingers are getting stronger and stronger everyday.
Red Fish, Blue Fish...
"Look Shell, that one is Nemo"
The little ones loved squeezing the bottles, especially when they made the end of the bottle noise...
you know the noise I'm talking about ;)
This photo was to much, they all wanted to take the bottle from Little Man.

We had to double bag Little Man's...
he was quite strong and a little aggressive with his squeezing.
Doesn't that look cool :)

These two couldn't keep their hands off them...
didn't matter whose it was, they wanted it.

After we read some more, played some more, we decided it was time to paint some Red & Blue Fish... I am hoping to hang these from the ceiling, so we painted both side today... You should have seen their faces, they thought that was pretty wacky!!

Scamp with that tongue out again... gotta love it!!!

What a WACKY WEDNESDAY!! I have decided that I am exhausted from all our activities, but a good exhausted.  Tomorrow is Pajama Day... a day to cuddle up and read and watch Dr. Seuss.  Of course tomorrow it supposed to be Sunny, Warm and Gorgeous... so we may have to do a little cuddling in the morning and get outside sooner than later.  Maybe we will wear jammies outside... we will see.

More Dr. Seuss Fun

There is so many great ideas to go along with a Dr. Seuss Week I can't believe some schools only do it for 1 day.  We have really enjoyed the silliness that Dr. Seuss helps bring out in everyone who reads his books.  Today we read Dr. Seuss's ABC book and used our stamps to make a Print Picture for the wall.  Lots of messy fun!!

Ok, I thought Lil Bit was going to do some stamping here...
Nope, she just moved the stamp out of the way so she could get her hand in there ;)
Ok, I know this picture doesn't look like an Alligator.
It was just the 1st phrase in the ABC book and we thought  why not .

There's a Wocket in my Pocket is one of my all time favorite books!!!  How much fun to read about all those little rhyming dudes that live in this boys house.  When I worked with the older kids, we would use this story as a starting off point for some great stories, today we learned about Rhyming and even got to make our own Wocket Monsters... which was another favorite activity today.

Today was actually Hat Day at childcare and although everyone brought in their hats, it seems hats are not something the very young like to wear ;)  So, I tried to get them to wear their hats for a quick parade and into snack time...

As soon as they could get them off they did.  It was pretty funny trying to keep them on their heads, as soon as I would tell one child to put it back on, I would turn to the next child as they were slipping their hat off, and around it went!!

I can't wait for tomorrow... it's WACKY WEDNESDAY!!  I wonder what will show up at my door in the morning!!!  Stay tuned!!

It's Dr. Seuss Week!!!

The fun has begun!!
Reading about Cats and Hats, Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz's, Wocket's in Pocket's, makes me just want to rhyme all day.  We have been making up silly rhyming songs, and I even tried to rhyme our way to lunch... I didn't do to bad, but as everyone agreed not as good as Dr. Seuss.

Dancing and Prancing

I've got something up my sleeve's and its not Jeeve's

Thing 1 and Thing 2...

Tickle, Tackle, Too!!

Press that little hand,
That's the plan!!

Thing 1 & Thing 2...

Ahh... all fresh and new ;)
Dr. Seuss week is always an exciting week... we have Hat Day, Wacky Wednesday, and Pajama Day still to come.  What will be in store for us??

Busy Day!!!

We had a pretty busy day today.  Sometimes I can't believe how much we fit in.  I will say right now that I have lots of photos.  I wanted to include a few from all our fun stuff today, since there was so much to do and fun to be had!!

Lil Bit's Mom brought us some neat stuff called Flarp.  You can usually get it in the dollar bin at Micheal's Craft Store and it is great fun.  It feels squishy, wet, and slimy but you don't get all yucky while playing with it.  It reminds me a little of Silly Putty, but it feels slimy and wet, but it isn't really wet.  It a cool experience!!

Everyday at Circle Time we do music and movement... I have found this helps our littlest guys and girls keep the wiggles down to a minimum.  We LOVE Jim Gill.  Jim Gill was a presenter at the NAFCC Conference in Las Vegas this past summer and I bought as many CD's as I could while I was there.  We are hooked on his The Sneezing Song and other Contagious Tunes CD right now, particularly the Hands Are For Clapping song.  It gets up, moving, clapping, snapping, tapping, and brushing our teeth... it's great fun!!

Scamp trying to snap... to cute!!

Slapping our knees...
we could do it hard, soft, fast, slow, and even while we jumped up and down!!!

We have also been learning about the color Pink!!  We love Pink!!
Today we did some golf ball painting with red and white paint... what do you think happened??
Yup, it turned pink!!!  How fun!!

Yup, you thought that was it didn't you... nope.  We even got to take a quick walk around the block today.  The weather was unbelievably warm.  Out we went for an adventure!!!

Lil Bit bringing up the caboose ;)

"You still with me Shell??"

Finding treasures in our pockets

Little Man collected "Pokey Plants"
(some sort of pod with pokey points sticking out all over)

"Hmmm"

"Got one too!!"

"Yeah!!"
We had a very busy morning and enjoyed it totally!!  It went by so quick, I couldn't believe how late it was when we got back to start lunch.  We all worked up an appetite and eat our fill, hopefully our nap will be restful and complete ;)
