Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

We had a Birthday Party for Dr. Seuss today.  What fun we had.
We first started with making some yummy cupcakes in our Silly Nilly Shoe Cupcake Holders.
What better way to Honor Dr Seuss than with some silly cupcake liners :)

"Really, I can just take it and eat it??"

"Okay, you asked for it!!"

"This icing is the bomb!!"

At Circle Time each child got their Honorary Cat in the Hat hat (this particular group of kids think The Cat in the Hat IS Dr. Seuss, but we are working on that).  We sang some songs, did some Freeze Dancing, and read Dr. Seuss's The Foot Book... which is one of my favorites, not only because it's a great book, but because it is shorter than most ;)

After Circle and Dancing we got to make our Many, Many Feet poster.  How fun it is to wiggle our toes in slimy, sparkly paint!!!

Sitting at the end to soak our toes and receive a little foot massage...
Can the day get any better??

Then to officially end our Dr Seuss Week we headed outside for our, "Hip, Hip, Hooray, It's Dr. Seuss Birthday Parade!!!"  Again, Fun Times!!!

Scamp actually kept her hat on the entire time we were outside for our Parade...
It was like she knew that this was a special walk.
She did keep touching it though, to make sure it was there, or bring our attention to what a great job she was doing.

FRIENDS!!!

We couldn't resist stomping in some puddles along the way!!

Even Scamp figured out that this stomping could be fun...
Sorry Mom & Dad  :)
I can't believe the week is over.  It seems like yesterday that we were beginning our Wacky, Zany Dr. Seuss Week.  I am exhausted and am looking forward to relaxing this weekend.  We packed a lot of fun learning into a very special week.  Now, how do you top a week like this when your next theme is Weather ;)
Hopefully, I can find some tricks up my sleeve.

A Little Green Eggs and Ham Anyone??!!

Starting your morning off with a healthy breakfast is a must.  So when I told the kids they were having  Eggs, Toast, and Ham for breakfast they thought, "Ok, no big deal.  We've had that before."  Then they saw what I actually cooked...

Your Silly Shell!!!

What's this Shell??
(I tried to make Thing 1 & Thing 2 out of Strawberries)
It was a yummy breakfast, especially since Shell read the Dr. Seuss book, Green Eggs and Ham at the breakfast table.  We took a guess if Sam-I-Am could get the monster guy to eat the Green Eggs and Ham.  It was fun reading to find out, and picking where we thought we might like to eat Green Eggs and Ham next time I make it ;)

After breakfast we had some Green Ooey Gooey Goop waiting to be made in our small sensory table.  Oh how ooey & gooey!!!  Everyone loves to get ooey and gooey at Shell's and today was no exception.  I wish I could put ALL the goopy photos on, but it would take up to much space!!

On another table we had some Abstract Art going on...
Green Eggs and Ham Spin Art!!!

Oh Yeah... today was Jammie Day too!!!  We had fun doing everything we normally do, but in Jammies!!
I could just eat up their little toes and bellies all snug in their jammies!!

Lastly, we can't forget our snack..
A little Green Eggs and Strawberries ;)

If you want to make the cool chocolate green egg... you can find the instructions here!!  It was real easy and the kids loved it!!  They looked so real.  I even sent some to school with my own kids to honor Dr. Seuss!!!

Its Been a Wacky Wednesday!!!

I had to include this photo...
Scamp came to me this morning with her Cat in the Hat hat and wanted me to put it on her.  She doesn't usually want anything on her head, and yet, she walked around for 15 minutes with that hat on.

So we all were dressed in Wacky, Tacky Wear today!!  I tried to get them to put hats back on, or silly socks back on feet, but when you are working with this age group, you take what you can get... and this is the best shot I could get. I know I should have included my photo in there, but we couldn't get one that was acceptable (to me anyway), so it's just the munchkins!!

Also on our reading radar was Dr. Seuss's book, 1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.  We had a lot of fun counting fish, making our own "under the sea fish house" and eating yummy fish snacks.

Blue Jello and Swedish Fish were on the snack menu...
of course no Swedish Fish for the little ones, but they liked the Jello though

After snack we made our fish houses...

I absolutely love that face!!!
Squeezing Gel Bottles can be hard work...
but those fingers are getting stronger and stronger everyday.
Red Fish, Blue Fish...
"Look Shell, that one is Nemo"
The little ones loved squeezing the bottles, especially when they made the end of the bottle noise...
you know the noise I'm talking about ;)
This photo was to much, they all wanted to take the bottle from Little Man.

We had to double bag Little Man's...
he was quite strong and a little aggressive with his squeezing.
Doesn't that look cool :)

These two couldn't keep their hands off them...
didn't matter whose it was, they wanted it.

After we read some more, played some more, we decided it was time to paint some Red & Blue Fish... I am hoping to hang these from the ceiling, so we painted both side today... You should have seen their faces, they thought that was pretty wacky!!

Scamp with that tongue out again... gotta love it!!!

What a WACKY WEDNESDAY!! I have decided that I am exhausted from all our activities, but a good exhausted.  Tomorrow is Pajama Day... a day to cuddle up and read and watch Dr. Seuss.  Of course tomorrow it supposed to be Sunny, Warm and Gorgeous... so we may have to do a little cuddling in the morning and get outside sooner than later.  Maybe we will wear jammies outside... we will see.
