A MOVE

Well I did it... I started another blog that will chronicle my Journey into TK.  See, that is the name of the new blog :) I am just starting, and I know I wasted almost all year of sharing all that I have been doing, but I have to say learning to work outside the home, getting my 4 boys up, showered, to school and sports, being a wife, housekeeper, cook, etc... has really taken a lot of getting used to!!  I can't believe how tired I am after doing all of the above, then spending time on lesson plans and getting ready for a new theme or unit for school.  It is crazy.  But, I have lots of great things I did this year and I will start blogging about it now.  I have to go through my thousands of photos to find ones without the kids faces on it, but I am sure I have a few things I can share :)

So, if you'd like to stop over and visit my new blog that would be great!!

It is called Journey into TK, which you can link to by clicking on the title or go to journeyintotk.blogspot.com...

Thanks!!!!

Winter Bulletin Board

I have been so busy I haven't been able to get on my post.  I also can't post photos of the kids from my class, so since ALL my photos are pretty much of the kids, or have the kids in it, I am figuring out how to post just the things we are doing.

I am loving my new job.  Teaching is such a passion that I have immersed myself in everything about making our classroom into everything it can be!!  I will try to get up and running again.

A New Beginning

It has been a crazy summer and new school year.  I have begun my new job as a teacher's assistant in a Transitional Kindergarten at a private school nearby.  I have to say, as much as I miss my little ones, I am having the time of my life.  I had forgotten how much fun18 4 & 5 yr olds can be.

I am having a tough time deciding if I should just continue blogging here, under this blog title or start a new blog.  I guess today I will just write here...

Beginning a new year with new children, children I had no past with, was a little scary, but I enjoyed getting to know them.  My co-teacher and I worked hard to make our room fun and inviting and came up with some great centers for the kids to explore.  I was able to bring in my light table and some great science bottles and the kids really enjoyed exploring with them.  We got right down to business, something I was never used to.  It always took a few weeks to get our daily routines down and begin trusting each other again.  Our children were great and ready to begin working, playing and having fun!!

We started our first week with an All About Me theme and I used some play dough mats I had where the kids could make their faces, they really loved it.  This week we are beginning a Getting to Know Our School theme... I can't wait to set up a "Classroom" in our housekeeping area... the kids are going to LOVE it!!!

I guess I will decide what to do about beginning a new blog or keeping this one, before I begin a new post.  Hope everyone's week and weekend was great!!!

What We Have Been Doing...

It has been kinda hard to write on the blog lately.  You see, I am closing Kozy Kids Family Childcare down.  I have received an offer to assist in a transitional kindergarten class next year, and I decided to take the position.  Although I know I will enjoy this new adventure, leaving behind this one has been hard for me.  Knowing that I will not be here to greet the kids after summer is over has been very sad, and I have been avoiding the blog as it reminds me to much of what I am giving up.

Family Childcare is just that, an extended family.  Each child I let through my door, invariably becomes part of me and wiggles their way into my heart.  I will miss them more than I know how to admit.

Sun Catchers

With the beautiful summer weather really starting to take shape we thought it was time for our annual sun catcher project.
Out came the glue, tissue paper and clear plastic plates and off we went!!!
I'm telling you, that tongue is the absolute cutest!!
She has it out whenever she is concentrating!!

"Look Shell, Look Shell"
I am guessing there is glue on that little hand!!

Lil Bit went through A LOT of tissue paper.  She would pat it on the glue, then it would stick on her fingers, over and over again.  She would then take it off and try again, over and over again.  You wonder why she is always the last one at the table ;)

"Oh I got this... I don't even need to sit down for this project"

We were very proud of our finished products!!

Tie Dye Day

Tie Dying with the 3 and under set makes for an interesting morning!!!
We started off with the same kit as last year, I let the kids dunk their shirts in water and squeeze the water out, then they picked their design from a little colored pamphlet in the tie dye box.  I did the best I could to simulate the design like the photos and rubber banded them up.

Off we go...

Last year we used the same kit and made 6 shirts and had lots of color dye left over...
This year, we ran out a lot quicker.  I guess the little ones squeezed the bottles harder or something, because we were lucky to get enough color for the 5 shirts we did.

But the final products were great!!!

I found instructions on how to make the little heart...
I love how they came out!!!
Look how cute we look!!!

Cheese!!!
