She thought it was really quite funny!!

After being yelled at by all her friends...
She decides to try spreading out her towel... HERSELF!!!

Water and Mud

Ok, this is how we all looked yesterday with all the mud from the rain, because...

This could happen ;)

Now, take today, it was hot, pretty dry outside and we wanted to get out and play.
So what did Miss Michelle do you ask??
Yes, I set the sensory table up with water.
Can anyone say, "Bathing Suits would be good here."
I don't know what I was thinking...
but a GREAT time was had by all!!!

Scamp poured that water on her face 50 times and each and every time had the same reaction!!
It was really to cute!!

Lil Bit did the same thing too...
I'm not sure if she was more surprised by the water on her face or if it was cold ;)
But it DID NOT stop her from doing it again and again and
AGAIN!!!

Little Man thought throwing the water would be great fun!!
Sometimes to the dismay of the others ;)

Almost...
That's better
PERFECT!!!

Seeing little ones play with water is so wonderful, how can we not see the benefits of this type of hands on, play oriented learning.  Not only did the kids learn about properties of water, like temperature, sinking and floating, and cause and effect... but they also had to work together, reinforcing patience, problem solving, spatial awareness, social cues, and so much more.  Lessons don't always have to be planned and executed to get to the end result... just having fun and playing brings our children to a place they need to be, to be the well rounded students they will become!!

Water Play!!!

I could not pick my favorite pictures from today!! There were so many.   We finished our caterpillars (which I didn't get a pic of) and had a quick Circle Time and Snack and then the fun began!!  First we got changed into our Water Clothes, slathered on the sunscreen, grabbed a towel and out we went!!!  What fun we had!!

"You know Miss Michelle the grass needs water too."

Little Man thought the ball would like the water more than him

But what a ham when he saw the camera pointed his way!!!

Scamp trying to keep up with Little Man

Running from the sprinkler is always fun

Sprout and Scamp must have "played" like this for 15 minutes.
Just transferring water from one container to another.

Scamp wanted MORE!!

When Sprout left Scamp stayed busy for a while more going to the water table, getting the water and bringing it back to her little laboratory over and over again.

It was so hot we had to make sure our H2O stayed cool.

Transferring water back and forth...
always a favorite!!

Lil Bit's toes got muddy, which she did not like!!

Roo took care of that!!

Which led to Miss Michelle's feet getting a good, long cool down

After a nice long outdoor morning it was time for lunch and nap...
We were ALL tired from all the fun stuff we did.  It's just the beginning of keeping cool in the hot summer weather!!!

Getting ready for nap!!!

Just A Few Things We Do...

I just had to add this one... Scamp actually put that crown on herself!!

We have been learning about flowers this week.  Stems, petals, roots... we have been digging and scooping, we even found a seed that was open and we got to look inside.  Unfortunately I didn't get to many photos of those things as my hands were a little busy.

Today we got to get outside and do a little Spring Cleaning of our toys.
What better way to clean than with bubbles and water!!

Roo realized that her container had a leak.

Huh...

"That's ok Shell, I'll just hold it over the water"

I found Sprout investigating this paint container...

Trying to figure out why the water inside wasn't coming out...

"YELLOW, Shell!!"

"BLUE, Shell!!!"

"I wonder what will happen if I do this??"
Ok, I know she didn't actually say that, but I know that was what she was thinking ;)

She realized that it splashes down her book :)

Working those little fingers...
Getting strong so he can use them to write, draw, and hold the oh so coveted pencil, markers and crayons!!

Ok, so this is one of those moments that I just absolutely love!!
The Littles were off exploring the yard while the big girls were playing in the water table, I peeked around the corner when I began hearing giggling...

This Is What I Found...

A leak in the hose connection

"Can I stop it??"

"Can I drink it??"

"I think I can"

No Water...

Water!!!

"I Got It This Time!!"
Learning is an always evolving process for young children.  They see something to learn in everything they touch, look at, play with, or take apart.  I am just lucky that I get to go a long for the ride... it's not something I can always take credit for ;)

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!
