We also made Grape Kool-Aid Play Dough to go with our Gg themed week... I used this recipe.

We could make textures...

We shared
(even if we didn't really want to)

We could put it into containers... even tiny ones

Then we even had a Tent today... we love tents!!

Tents make everything cozier

They MUST have a door

And lots of stuff to put in such a small space

And friends to enjoy it with...

Gumballs Anyone?

Okay, not really... but we thought since we all LOVE Gumballs, and we have a Gumball counting jar for our circle time, that this would be a great week to make a Gumball Machine (if only pretend).

Glittery Goldfish & A Trip to the Park

To start our Gg Themed week off with a "glub" we made some Glittery, Green Goldfish!! We had fun mixing the glitter into the paint and painting it on our goldfish... it was then discussed that an eye and smiley face (like the "real" Goldfish from the store, you know the ones we eat... to cute) should be added.

We then decided that a nice walk to the Nature Area was in order... we needed to run, jump, hop, skip, roll and slide a little. So, on with our shoes and jackets and out the door we went!! I'm glad we did, a great time was had by all!!

This picture just screams, "Childhood" to me!! She looks so carefree...
that running down that hill is just the tip of the iceberg to what she can do

Mom's & Dad's, if you were wondering why your children were so dirty today....
Now you know :)

Community Trick-or-Treat

We really love our town, especially at Halloween. Each year all the stores and businesses buy loads of candy and have a community trick-or-treat on the main street. They buy lots of candy on their own and deck themselves and/or their store fronts out in decorations... this year we saw some mad scientist, a ghoulish monster, and a hippie mayor with a decked out VW bus. Can it get any better than that?? We had a really good time, and all but one of the kids could make it. We had siblings, friends, Moms & Dads... what a great time.

My little Fireman

Always a Princess!!

See... what can I tell ya... the things they do for the kids!!!

Friends!!

Old Friends!!

Seeing friends we don't get to see every day.

Hey, I ain't monkeying around here.... where's my candy!!!

I love living in such a wonderful community!!!

What a Fun Day

What a fun day!! Our friends came over for another play day... we love play days!!! I had set up a lot of fun things for us to do today.

First, we had a pumpkin scooping center set up... the kids loved scooping out that pumpkin pulp. They discussed what was in there, the sliminess of it, what we could do with the seeds after we got them all out and what kind of face our jack-o-lantern would have.
(Happy Face won)

I was surprised that the little ones had so much fun. They can be very picky about the textures they touch, but I guess all our exploration of slimy, rough, smooth, sticky, bumpy, and icky things is beginning to pay off.

Ok, well not with everyone. Seriously though, the Princess loved it and got right in there and scooped a lot of the stringy, slimy pulp out. She can't wait to dry those seeds so we can try and grow pumpkins next year. Watch out Mom & Dad, she wants to take 100 seeds home to plant in YOUR yard :)

Everyone had a say in how our pumpkin would look. Miss Michelle had the task of making it happen. We had a fun time.

Sprout had fun with the pumpkins too, here she is telling me,
"Shell, Shell... pumpk, pumpk!!!"

Next, I got the great idea from Sherry & Donna over at Irresistible Ideas for Play Based Learning, to do Foil Finger painting to go with our letter Ff week. What fun they had. They have orange and white paint from their heads to their little feet.

"Shell, Thomas train tracks"

Writing names, making shapes, and just getting down right slimy and messy!!
Right up our alley!!

"Look Shell, paint"

They used their whole bodies today. To bad we didn't think of this in the summer with bathing suits... that would be loads of fun, and nothing a little water won't get off.

The Princess really enjoyed this project... she had paint up her arm, under her shirt, and all over her hair. I hope the party she is going to after Child Care isn't a dressy one :)
See, I told you, a fun day today!!
