A New Beginning

It has been a crazy summer and new school year.  I have begun my new job as a teacher's assistant in a Transitional Kindergarten at a private school nearby.  I have to say, as much as I miss my little ones, I am having the time of my life.  I had forgotten how much fun18 4 & 5 yr olds can be.

I am having a tough time deciding if I should just continue blogging here, under this blog title or start a new blog.  I guess today I will just write here...

Beginning a new year with new children, children I had no past with, was a little scary, but I enjoyed getting to know them.  My co-teacher and I worked hard to make our room fun and inviting and came up with some great centers for the kids to explore.  I was able to bring in my light table and some great science bottles and the kids really enjoyed exploring with them.  We got right down to business, something I was never used to.  It always took a few weeks to get our daily routines down and begin trusting each other again.  Our children were great and ready to begin working, playing and having fun!!

We started our first week with an All About Me theme and I used some play dough mats I had where the kids could make their faces, they really loved it.  This week we are beginning a Getting to Know Our School theme... I can't wait to set up a "Classroom" in our housekeeping area... the kids are going to LOVE it!!!

I guess I will decide what to do about beginning a new blog or keeping this one, before I begin a new post.  Hope everyone's week and weekend was great!!!

  1. I'm just happy to see that you will still be blogging...wherever you choose to do it at! I would probably at least change the blog name if you stay here. But beings this is a whole new venture, it might be better/easier to start from scratch. You can make the last post here, linking out to the new blog, but all the fabulous info from your previous posts would still be here as well.

  4. I used to teach 8th grade and then went down to 1 year olds! That was a big transition for me, heh. I would love to have some older kids again soon. It's so nice when they can clean up after themselves.

  14. It is always good to do something for the kids that they are going to have fun and learn at the same time. That is how good child care services should be, because one of the most important parts is for them to feel safe, comfortable, and for them to be able to learn. I know that is what I look for when I put my son into child care.

  15. I am in the process of looking for a center for my two children, and I need to know from people who have looked at daycares, and had their children enrolled in centers what do you look for. i know the typical stuff to look for in the schedule and rules and stuff but i want to know what a good classroom should look like to a parent walking in to see it? What are things that you have seen in a room that has made you say "no way" and what has made you say "this is the right place!"

  22. Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I'm not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I'd post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Kudos preschool moorebank
